On May 29, Train Y29, carrying over 200 passengers, slowly departed from Xi'an Railway Station and headed west toward Almaty, Kazakhstan, marking the launch of a brand-new cultural exchange route connecting China and Central Asia.
This special train operates under a "domestic segment + international segment" split-transport model, with the railway authorities of China and Kazakhstan working together to ensure seamless, one-stop customs clearance for passengers. The round-trip journey lasts ten days.
The train features a "Golden Bridge of the Silk Road" themed exterior, and its interior is decorated with iconic elements such as the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, ancient city walls and the Bell Tower of Xi'an, alongside landmark architecture from Kazakhstan, visually evoking the unique charm of the Silk Road.
During the journey, cultural activities are held at scheduled times each day, including traditional Chinese medicine demonstrations, cultural lectures, intangible cultural heritage showcases, live calligraphy and painting sessions, and opera performances. These engaging events have attracted enthusiastic participation from passengers of various nationalities, offering a vivid testament to cross-cultural dialogue.
