Chongqing-Thailand Rail-Sea Intermodal Premium Express Line Launched

On May 30, the X9587 train of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a premium rail-sea intermodal express line from Chongqing to Thailand, departed from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Central Railway Station with a whistle. After arriving at Qinzhou Port in Guangxi on June 2, the cargo was loaded onto ships and, following six days of sea transport, is scheduled to reach Laem Chabang Port in Thailand. This marks a new efficient logistics artery for trade between China’s western region and ASEAN countries.

As the fourth Southeast Asia premium express line opened on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, this route fills a critical logistics gap in China-Thailand industrial cooperation. According to a representative from the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Operations Co., Ltd., compared to traditional transportation, the premium express line advances the empty container return to 48 hours before train departure and shortens railway transit time to within 32 hours. Leveraging a seamless "train + sea vessel" connection, cargo upon arrival at the port is prioritized for prompt transfer, avoiding port congestion risks and ensuring stable service throughout the journey.

CR-Chengdu's Chongqing Railway Logistics Center and Xinglongchang Railway Station have fully utilized the advantages of rail transport and strengthened on-site safety controls to provide solid support for the efficient operation of the premium express line. Through precise optimization of key processes such as "empty container returns, railway dispatch and direct loading upon arrival," the total transport time has improved by over 30%, helping enterprises enhance supply chain efficiency.

Currently, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor operates premium express services connecting Chongqing to four major ports: Haiphong in Vietnam, Laem Chabang in Thailand, Jakarta in Indonesia and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. By continuously improving railway transit time control, schedule stability and Southeast Asia route coverage, the corridor promotes normalized operation of premium express lines, offering domestic and international customers more efficient, cost-effective cross-border logistics services and customized logistics solutions, further highlighting its strategic value as an inland open hub.
